Quiénes somos: la historia de Glitter Kaiju

About Us: The Story of Glitter Kaiju

Hello, monsters!

If you've made it this far, you're probably curious about who we are and what's behind Glitter Kaiju. So get comfortable, because this is our story.

We are Jordi and Montse, a married couple from Barcelona who decided to give our lives a 180-degree turn.

In Barcelona, Torres Mapfre

For almost ten years, we had a business there, but there came a time when we felt we needed to start over. We closed that chapter and moved to Galicia, looking for a quieter life and a place where we could build something different.

The first thing we did was restore our old house. It was months of work, effort, and excitement. When we finally finished, we felt that mixture of thrill and vertigo that appears when you know a new stage is beginning... but you still don't know where it will take you.

Both of us went back to studying and let ourselves be carried away by interests that had always been there.

Jordi continued training in 3D design, something he had been doing practically his whole life and which had always been one of his greatest passions.

I, on the other hand, fell in love with the world of resin. I started completely on my own: watching videos, reading, researching, doing tests... many tests. Some turned out well. Others went straight into the trash. But every mistake was a learning experience.

One day I decided to do something that terrified me: a live stream on TikTok.

First TikTok Live

I had no idea what I was going to do during the stream. I just knew I wanted to create some resin paw prints to help the animal shelter where we had adopted our dog, Marshall. When this whole adventure began, Marshall was barely five months old.

That first live stream was incredibly tough. I was so embarrassed and thought about turning off the camera more than once (in fact, I actually did it a few times every time someone joined the stream, hehe!).

But something happened that I will never forget.

People started to stay, talk to me, cheer me on, value my work, and fill me with love. I didn't understand it at all. Truly. It was hard for me to believe that so many people would dedicate their time to someone they had just met. So I decided to do one very simple thing: let myself be loved. If all those people said they liked what I was doing, who was I to disagree? (Although over time I also learned that not everyone on the internet has good intentions... but that's another story).

Back then, my content had absolutely nothing to do with Diamond Painting.

But, little by little, the "diamond monsters" started finding me and began asking me for small projects related to their hobby.

And then, another one of those life-changing moments happened.

They discovered that Jordi was a 3D designer and they started insisting that we design something for them.

At that time, we only had a resin 3D printer. If we wanted to try it, we needed a PLA printer.

Our decision?

Buy it.

Without thinking too much. Just diving in headfirst.

First PLA printer

I bought a Diamond Painting canvas simply so I could have diamonds, run tests, take measurements, and understand a little better this world everyone was talking to us about.

Everything happened very fast.

At the end of October, the idea was born.

In November, the new printer arrived.

And in December, we were selling trays like crazy.

Even today, we find it hard to believe the reception they had. The support was absolutely wild. We were completely blown away.

But we didn't want to stop there.

We wanted to learn more, improve, perfect every detail, and keep creating different things.

And then came another moment we will never forget.

We did something that, as far as we know, no one had done before in the world of Diamond Painting: draw a design completely live and turn it into a real tray.

That was how Baby Boo, our first Fantasy tray, was born.

For Jordi, it was especially emotional. He has been drawing his whole life, so seeing how one of his drawings came to life and ended up in the hands of many people was very difficult to put into words.

And, without knowing it, that was the beginning of the wonderful madness that is Glitter Kaiju today.

Since then, we haven't stopped learning, inventing, trying new things, and, above all, enjoying creating.

Because Glitter Kaiju has never been just a shop.

It is our workshop.

Our home.

Our ideas.

Our madness.

And an incredible community that has been growing with us since those first live streams.

So yes...

We are two crazy people.

We don't usually fit in anywhere.

We like to do things our own way, even if they sometimes seem crazy.

And we are immensely happy to see that there are also other people who enjoy this different way of understanding this hobby.

We are a different story.

A different vibe.

Maybe we aren't for everyone...

But who knows? Maybe we are just right for you.
